XLPE sheathing is recommended for product oil (Naphtha, Gasoiline, Fuel oil, etc) tankers that PVC is not appliable. Previous shlpyards usually used Bare tube without sheathing for those kind of tanker. it makes tube corrosion on the tubes. in order to avold the corrosion in the tanks, XLPE sheathing can be the solution for the product oil tanker.

The single core bonded tube installed in Ballast Tank (WBT) and crude oil tank(COT). Before this kind of bonded tube, the shipyards used Bare type tube (Commonly wall thickness 2mm). But Bonded tube has special bond layer between the tube and out sheathing. This bond type tubing is commonly 0.8~1.0mm, it makes easier installation and minimized corrosion.
